When an emergency happens you want attention fast. Eastland is located between Abilene and Weatherford - a distance of 145 miles and is the only hospital in this area. Eastland Memorial Hospital Emergency Services is a cooperative between the Cities of Eastland and Cisco, Eastland County and Eastland Memorial Hospital Our service area includes the Cities of Cisco, Eastland, Gorman, Ranger and Rising Star. The population served is approximately 18,300 over a 932 square mile coverage area.
Our team includes licensed paramedics, intermediate and basic Emergency Medical Technicians. The staff receive training in Basic and Advanced Life Support in addition to completing required annual continuing education. Skill and knowledge base competencies are assessed on an annual basis and educational needs identified and addressed. We pride ourselves in our professional conduct and the quality of care we provide to emergency and non-emergency patients.
Our fleet consists of 4 ambulances which are Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU)capable at all times. Two ambulances are based in Cisco and two in Eastland providing 911 coverage for two-thirds of the county. Each department is staffed with a paramedic and basic and or intermediate. When one ambulance is responding, the other department covers the service area. In 2007 we responded to over 1,700 calls.
Dr. Kevin Melgreen serves as the EMS Medical Director. He and Gene Wright EMT-P, EMS Manager, collaborate together to develop protocols that meet the standard of care for field response.
